What is CAD & AutoCAD?

The word ‘CAD’ stands for Computer-Aided Drafting. Sometimes, it is also referred to as ‘CADD’, which stands for ‘Computer Aided Drafting & Designing’. Basically, they are the same thing. And, AutoCAD is a drafting software, with which we can do the drawings. In this Autocad Tutorial, you will learn AutoCAD 2D, 3D & Isometric one by one. Before that, let’s see the basic intro to AutoCAD.

AutoCAD was formally launched in December, 1982 in America, by the company Autodesk Inc, a leader in 3D design, engineering and entertainment software. In a simple sentence, AutoCAD enables engineers, designers, architects to produce 2D and 3D models using computers.
