Introduction
Time flies when you’re having fun! Your time at university is drawing to an end and in a short amount of time, you’ll be graduating from your program of study and entering into the big wide world. In your final year, you need to focus on your academic studies however you should give some consideration to what to do after you graduate, about your career. Be aware of application closing dates (some are particularly early) and ensure you are prepared to hit the ground running in your final year of study. It’s never too late to make use of the range of services we offer!

Don’t panic! It’s not a good idea to panic and apply for every job you see advertised. Instead, work through the following steps:
STEP 1: Clarify Career Choices.
Research career options. Find out what you can do with your degree and research employment sectors.

STEP 2: Identify Opportunities.
Where are suitable jobs advertised? Will postgraduate study help?
Find some of the latest graduate vacancies on our Jobs Board.
Use recruitment agencies to find graduate and entry-level vacancies with employers.
STEP 3: Make Effective Applications:
Make sure you only send off high-quality applications! Use our Job Application Resources for advice and tips on constructing high-quality applications, CVs and information on how to prepare for assessment centres and interviews.
Check spelling, grammar and punctuation in your applications and correspondence with employers – mistakes could mean immediate rejection.

STEP 4: Sell Yourself at the Interview / Assessment Centre.
Once you’ve cleared the initial shortlist with a high-quality application you will need to prepare for assessment centres, psychometric tests and interviews. Use our application resources and series of workshops and webinars to help prepare.
Always have a “plan B”. Things don’t always go according to plan, but, if you plan and prepare well you will stand a greater chance of success. If things don’t work out as planned be resilient and look at alternatives.
